Port Chop BBQ (Long Branch, NJ)

Port Chop's piri-piri mixed grill

This restaurant focuses on Portuguese BBQ meats with a little of American thrown in. It is cozy, wonderful, and the staff is friendly.

We have tried many of their dishes, all of which come in generous portions. They start off with crusty bread with an olive oil dip and olives. As for appetizers, you can’t go wrong, but we like the Portuguese sausage and the calamari.

Portugal is known for its seafood, and the shrimp dinners are wonderful. We recommend the classic dish Shrimp Mozambique, which is served in a garlic sauce. They also make traditional dishes like the Bacalhau a Bras, which involves shredded cod fish and potatoes.

Of course, if it is your first time there, try the BBQ, as it is their specialty. We recommend the Piri Piri mixed grill, pictured above. It comes with several types of meats, plus rice and fries. It will definitely fill up two people. If you want a little less meat, they also have a full range of sandwiches.
